We are happy to offer the Sacred Ground Curriculum, developed by the Episcopal Church, starting on July 12, 2020. The course will be led by Amy Cook and the Rev. Pam Jester.
“Sacred Ground: A Film-Based Dialogue Series on Race & Faith” is a 10-part series built around a powerful online curriculum of documentary films and readings that focus on Indigenous, Black, Latino, and Asian/Pacific American histories as they intersect with European American histories. We plan on offering 6 sessions and then taking a break before completing the series. Here are the dates and the topics:
- July 12 – Stepping onto Sacred Ground
- July 26 – The Roots of Whiteness, and Deeper Roots
- August 9 – Whose Land? Exploring Indigenous History
- August 23 – Transatlantic Slave Trade and Slavery: Exploring Black History
- September 13 – Whose Land? More Layers: Exploring Latino History
- September 27 – Americans, Not Foreigners: Exploring Asian/Pacific American History
We ask that you make the commitment to attend at least 5 of the sessions. There are some longer films – up to 75 minutes – that we ask you to watch before our sessions. After registration, you will be sent a link with access to all the materials for this course – including the movie links.
