Returning to Center: Beginning Lent in Balance and Reflection
An offering led by Steven Salinas
Sunday, February 22, First Sunday in Lent, 12:00pm, Fireside Room
Sometimes life can feel a little off or unbalanced and we don’t quite know why. These feelings can leave us feeling sad depressed irritable or angry. If only we knew what was off in our lives so that we could fix it and get back to feeling whole again. Thankfully our Indigenous American ancestors left us a gift that can help us identify where the root of the imbalance lies and provides us with an opportunity to reflect on creative ways to address it. The Medicine Wheel is an ancient Indigenous American tool that helps us understand how all things connected and dependent on each other to maintain a balanced and harmonious life. It provides us wisdom and guidance for restoring balance when something is off.
In this session, Steven Salinas will provide a basic introduction to the medicine wheel and how we can use it to reflect on the four attributes of human life (Physical, Mental, Emotional and Spiritual) that work together to ensure balance and harmony. We will explore each attribute individually to discover how to identify when one of them is affected and interrupting life’s flow and ideas for how to address them with self-care to restore balance.
