All Saints Vestry
What is a vestry, you ask? Well, the clergy and vestry lead the congregation – but not like a board of directors, because the church is different from a business. The vestry helps the congregation discern the vision toward which God is drawing us, keeping the mission of the parish clearly before the community. As elected representatives, the vestry is really the steward of God’s creation at All Saints, leading the congregation in giving thanks and celebrating the resources God has given us. At All Saints, we have three tasks and one purpose. Our three tasks are 1) Meet real human needs in our community and beyond; 2) Share with everyone the Good News of God in Jesus Christ; and 3) Hold up the injustice of our day to the light of the Gospel. Our core purpose is to make disciples who make disciples, serving others in the name of Christ while warmly inviting others to join us on the Christian adventure. Each month, vestry meetings keep us on track and urge us forward in these tasks and purpose. Members step up to the plate to assume new responsibilities and are given the support they need to succeed. Vestry members help each other when things are challenging. And the vestry prays – a lot! The vestry is committed to transparency and effective communication, keeping the parish and our neighborhood informed through the website, newsletter and the online and printed bulletin board, where we post our minutes.
