Rev. Rob Droste, Rector
Raised in an Air Force family, Father Rob has lived all over the United States as well as in the United Kingdom. Upon his father’s retirement from the service, the family settled in Summerville, South Carolina. There, Rob attended Porter-Gaud School (an Episcopal school) and The College of Charleston, where he received an English degree with honors in 1984.
In 1986, Rob moved to Eugene, Oregon and enjoyed a successful 10-year career in marketing and public relations. While there, he met his wife Karla; they were married at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Eugene in 1995. In 1997, they moved to Berkeley so Rob could attend seminary at the Church Divinity School of the Pacific. Rob was awarded his M.Div. in May, 2000, and was ordained priest in December of that year. He served two years at Trinity Episcopal Church in downtown San Francisco. In 2002, he was elected rector at All Saints, and has been there ever since.
An experienced marathoner and backpacker, Father Rob loves being outside. He and Karla enjoy outdoor cultural events, the summer rock concert season, regular retreats (with or without massages), their two cats Pablo and Toby, great food and travel.
Church Secretary
Janet Plankenhorn
Janet has lived in San Leandro for forty-one years. She was Office Manager at her late husband's business - Dean E. Plankenhorn, CPA - for many years. Janet really misses the office atmosphere so she was delighted when the position became open at All Saints
She and Dean raised four children who all attended San Leandro schools and were graduated from San Leandro High School. Three of her four children still live here in San Leandro.
Janet has been quite active in the community. She served two terms as an elected trustee for San Leandro Unified School District and thirteen years on the City Recreation and Parks Commission. She was also active in PTA - past president of Roosevelt, Bancroft, and twice at San Leandro High School.
During most of the years in San Leandro the family lived in Leland Heights where Janet was active in the neighborhood association, The Bay-O-Vista Improvement Association, where she eventually became president. After the passing of her husband, she moved to the Broadmoor and now is on the Board of the Broadmoor Neighborhood Association and does the bi-monthly newsletter.
